Ruth D. Bievenour

WEST YORK BORO- Ruth D. (Boyd) Bievenour, 77, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her residence with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Edward L. Bievenour. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. Certified Celebrant Jessica Smith will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Mrs. Bievenour was born in York on May 19, 1938, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Fairy (Swartz) Boyd. She began working as a waitress for the Bon-Ton Tea Room in Downtown York, and then worked in data entry for 35 years at their Distribution Center until she retired in 2004. Mrs. Bievenour was a 1957 graduate of William Penn High School and a mother of lovely wonderful children. Mrs. Bievenour leaves three daughters, Debra Bievenour and her partner Susan Shollenberger of Rehoboth, DE, Susan Hartman and her fiancé Bill Loder of Dover, and Bonny Harbold and her husband, Jeffrey of York; a son, Mark Bievenour and his wife Christy of Gulfport, MS; nine grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Joshua, Jerrid, Kayla, Nathan, Renee, Sarah, and Justin; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Jacqueline Rawlinson of York. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Boyd. Ruth was surrounded by people she loved dearly, Doc Russel Etter, his daughter, Karen, and a nurse June. She also had special friends at Tops 88, the Data Girls, and Bon Ton Retiree’s.
