BOCA RATON, FL - Ruth B.(Friedman) Brumberg, 85, a former resident of Williamsport from 1947-1995, died on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Hospice by the Sea, Boca Raton. Ruth was born on March 3, 1925 in Scranton and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Bransdorf) Friedman. She was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School, Wilkes Barre, Class of 1942, post graduate courses at Wilkes Barre Business School in 1943 and graduated from Pennsylvania State University, 1947 B.S. in Home Economics. On October 12, 1947, she married David Brumberg, who survives. Ruth was a member of the Congregation Ohev Sholom, past president Ohev Sholom Sisterhood, past treasurer, Williamsport Hadassah, Life member of Hadassah, past member of board of directors Williamsport YWCA, Lycoming Division of American Cancer Society, past president and treasure, Williamsport Federation of Jewish Charities, past vice-president of Eastern Pennsylvania Womens League of Conservative Judaism, past volunteer teachers aid at Cochran, Washington and St. Joseph Schools. Member of Binai Torah Congregation and Sisterhood, Boca Raton, FL, member of Aviva-Zipporah Chapter of Hadassah, Boca Raton, FL and first recipient of Woman of Achievement Award, Ohev Sholom Sisterhood, Williamsport. In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by one son; Jay Brumberg (Peg Parker)of Cummington, MA, one daughter; Beth E. Brumberg (Joe Bielik)of Winchester, CT, one granddaughter; Ahna Bielik of Winchester, CT. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Friedman of Kingston, PA. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m.(noon) Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport, PA 17701 with Ohev Sholom spiritual leader Shaul Rappaport officiating. Family and Friends will be received at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Ohev Sholom Cemetery, Williamsport. In keeping with Jewish tradition, there will be no viewing or flowers.
