Ruth A. (Picker) Smith

York- Ruth A. (Picker) Smith, 94, died on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Country Meadows, Leaders Heights. She was the wife of the late Harold D. Smith to whom she was married 65 years until his passing.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion. A graveside service will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Certified Celebrant Amy Favorito officiating.

Born on November 24, 1929 in Pylesville, MD, she was a daughter of the late Milton H. and Ella S. (Burkins) Picker. Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Highland High School in Harford County, MD. She was a secretary at Voith Hydro for 16 years until her retirement in 1987.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Chapel United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth, White Rose Square Dancers, Pretty Boy Square Dancers and the Red Hat Society.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Donna Voorhees of Dallastown and Debra Quickel and her husband, Gerry of Benezette; three grandchildren, Rebecca Kramer and her husband, Larry of York, Rodney Ream of Polkton, NC and Lonnie Moser of Brogue; and three great grandchildren, Adrianna Ream, Nicholas Ream and Douglas Ream. She was preceded in death by her son, Barry D. Smith; and sister, Esther E. Kelly.
