YORK- Ruth A. (Miller) Chronister, 90, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of the late David E. Chronister. The couple were married 64 years before David’s passing in 2010. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at New Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1873 New Fairview Church Rd., York, with Pastor Paul Bentzel and Pastor Wayne Hartman, officiating. A Viewing will be held from 9-11AM prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Born March 21, 1928 in N. Codorus Twp., Ruth was a daughter of the late Maynard Michael and Dorothy Agnes (Hess) Miller. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister to her siblings. She loved baking and was well known for her home baked fruit pies. Ruth was a collector of carnival glass and at one time was Treasurer for the Keystone Carnival Club. She spent many hours putting jigsaw puzzles together. Ruth also enjoyed playing cards and watching game shows, especially Family Feud. She lived for over 30 years with a significant disability and demonstrated uncommon grace in enduring this continuous disruption to daily routines of living. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. Mrs. Chronister is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Chronister (Donna) of Mechanicsburg, and James E. Chronister (Karen) of Hollansburg, OH; four grandchildren, Andrea Klinedinst (Michael) of York Haven, Lisabeth Mazel (Rich) of North Attleboro, MA, Kirt Chronister (Angie) of Tipp City, OH, and Shannon Collins (Anthony) of New Madison, OH; nine great grandchildren; a brother, David Miller (Brenda) of York, and two sisters, Lois Oberdick (Frank “Buddy”) of York, and Susie Buchmyer (Ken) of Hellam. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Chronister and a brother, Maynard Miller, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
