RED LION - Rusty (Millard) Horton died on Sunday, September 14, 2014 after fiercely battling pancreatic cancer for 18 months. He passed away at Hospice and Community Care Center of Mt. Joy, PA after leaving Philadelphia where he was enrolled in a clinical trial. Rusty was the devoted and loving husband for 44 yrs to Diane (Homewood) Horton and the dedicated father to his son Brian E. Horton (Barbara) of Doylestown, PA and his daughter Dale Moran Bing-Zaremba (Marc) of Furlong, PA. He had four grandchildren who loved him dearly, Colin Horton (14yrs), Lindsey Horton (12yrs), Kerrigan Moran (9yrs) and Reegan Moran (7yrs). Born in York, PA on August 21, 1944, Rusty was the son of the late Millard Eugene Horton, Sr. and Florence (Miller) Horton. He graduated from West York High school in 1962 and he received a bachelor’s degree from The American University in Washington DC in 1966. Upon graduating from college, he served in the United States Navy for four years. Rusty was employed by Foxx Pool Corporation in the US for much of his career and for a period of time for Foxx Pool Corporation in England. He later developed his own consulting business, The Business Edge, focusing on marketing and contact management. In addition to his immediate family, Rusty is survived by his sister Wanda (Horton) Gosnell of Dover, PA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Craig L. Horton. Rusty loved hiking and biking in the mountains of North Central PA where his family has a home. He also loved vacationing with his family each summer in Cape Cod, MA. Rusty had many hobbies. He loved gardening, wood working, reading and teaching his grandchildren the how to's of life. They all love repeating grandpa's mottos and life's lessons. We will all miss a husband, dad, grandpa, brother, father in law, uncle, and friend who taught us all so much. His strength, determination and full of life attitude will carry on in all of us and so will the many memories we created together. A service to celebrate Rusty's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of York, 225 East Market Street, York with the Reverend Dr. Stephen Lytch officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held privately. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
