Russell R. Grow

FELTON – Russell R. Grow, 80, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at York Hospital. He was the husband and best friend of Suzanne (Klatt) Grow, with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage with on August 21.


Born December 25, 1942 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Rex and Emily (Czerniak) Grow.


Russ graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1966, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He went on to earn both his Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Wyoming.


His career as an entomologist began in 1972, working as a training specialist with various pest control companies until 2001. After which, he was a self-employed consultant for Extermitrain, retiring in 2011.


In his free time, he enjoyed anything and everything with his wife. He loved his grandchildren, his relatives, and his friends. He was a true gentleman, loved unconditionally and gave the best hugs. His hobbies included cooking, golfing, fishing, hunting, shooting, traveling and going on vacation to Oak Island. Russ was also involved in many community affairs in New York including the Conservation Advisory Commission, Pee Wee and Little League Softball Associations, a golf league, Concerned Citizens Group and he volunteered for Legion Affairs.


In addition to his wife, Russ is also survived by his daughter Lisa Ann Lintz and her husband Scott of Sparks, Maryland; his grandchildren Zachary Ryan Lintz and Ava Suzanne Lintz; three sisters, Judy Norton of West Plains, Missouri, Cindy Bielski of Cumming, Georgia and Vicki Svensen of New Carrollton, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his daughter Stacy Lynn Grow and his brother, Don Grow who we know both welcomed him to heaven.


Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion will be assisting the family with arrangements.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
