Russell G. West

WINDSOR - Russell G. West, 80, formerly of Lancaster, KY, died Monday, July 14, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services-South in York. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a viewing from 1-2 p.m. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. Born September 21, 1933 in Lancaster, KY, he was the son of Gilbert and Lucy (Moore) West. Before retiring he worked as a foreman for several construction companies in Pennsylvania and Florida and also worked as a security guard for several hotels and golf courses in Florida after retirement. He was a life member of both: Dallastown American Legion and Red Lion VFW, as well as the VFW and American Legion in Florida. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing and skeet shooting and enjoyed working on the family tobacco farm in Kentucky and spending time in Florida. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean War. Mr. West leaves a son, Warren West of Kentucky and a sister, Sadona Edgington and her husband, Jim of Lancaster, KY and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Glenna Coffin, a brother, Ralph West and a sister, Elizabeth Ray.
