YORK- Roy Wilson Hengst, 98, died Saturday December 11, 2010 at ManorCare Health Services, Dallastown. He was the loving husband of the late Gladys M. (Anstine) Hengst. A graveside memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Mt. Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mt. Rose Ave., York, PA, 17403 with Rev. Patricia Bollinger officiating and full military rites provided for by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A funeral cortege will form at 9:45 a.m. at the cemetery entrance. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hengst was born August 9, 1912 in York a son of the late George D. and Annie (Myers) Hengst. He was a former Bricklayer, who was contracted both locally and out of state. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country during WWII. He was a member of the Union of Bricklayers, Allied Craft Workers, and Union Five of Harrisburg. Mr. Hengst was an avid gardener and took pride in his flowers. Mr. Hengst is survived by two sisters, Lestie Ritz of N.C., and June Gohn of Dover; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
