MILTON- Roy Franklin Aikey, Sr., lifelong resident of Milton, PA passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011. He was the loving husband of Barbara Ann (Troup) Aikey. The couple married April 27, 1959 and had 52 wonderful years together. Roy was born on May 21, 1939 in Milton, son of the late Norman W. and Ruth E. (Foust) Aikey. He was a Finishing Carpenter by trade and retired from Ritz Craft Manufacturing in 2006. Roy also enjoyed repairing model trains. He could be seen at many flea markets in the area selling his repaired toy trains. Roy was proud of his Native American heritage; he was a member of the Susquehanna Band of Pennsylvania Shawnee and the Eastern Delaware Nation. He was also a member of the French Creek Living History Association, where he enjoyed reenacting battles from the French and Indian War. Roy had a passion for the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and motorcycling. Roy was a US Army Reserves Veteran and was Christian by faith. Roy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara, his son Roy F. Aikey, Jr. and wife Sharon of Milton, PA, his daughters Tammie Church of Milton, Tina Sauers and husband Tony of Milmont, PA, Teresa Aikey of Vero Beach, FL, and Lorraine Derr and husband Richard of Mifflinburg, PA, 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, his brother John Aikey, and 3 nephews. His parents and his sister Shirley Stover preceded Roy in death. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at River Woods, Marlow Hall, Lewisburg with the memorial service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Roy’s memory to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave. Williamsport, PA 17701 or the American Cancer Society, 1948 East Third Street Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements are being handled by The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, Inc., 125 N. Front Street, Milton, PA 17847.
