DOVER - Roy Elmer Chronister, 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Violet May (Kimmons) Chronister, to whom he was married to for over 57 years. A celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with the Reverend Donald Myers of New Fairview Church of the Brethren officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in New Fairview Church Cemetery. Born on March 14, 1931 in York, Roy was a son of the late Edwin E. and Naomi M. (Dehoff) Chronister. Mr. Chronister worked as an Assembler for John C. Motter Printing Press Co. for over 28 years until his retirement in 1990. He was previously employed at Shipley/Humble and Raab’s Fruit Farm. Mr. Chronister was a member of First Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. He also enjoyed going to baseball games and was an avid Orioles fan. Along with his wife, Violet, Mr. Chronister is survived by two sons, Neil Chronister and his wife Debbie of Spring Grove and Todd Chronister and his wife, Betty of Dover; three grandchildren, Tim Wilt, Neil Chronister, Jr. and Katrina Chronister; two great grandchildren, Neil Chronister, III and Ethan Chronister; one brother, Kenneth Chronister of Manchester; two sisters, Mildred Meisenhelter of York and Ruth Adams and her husband, Donald of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood Chronister and Preston Chronister; and a sister, Lucille Lehman.
