Ross Merle Edgar

YORK – Ross Merle Edgar, 83, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Laura J. (Hoover) Edgar to whom he was married 57 years. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon, Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be Sunday from 11 AM - Noon at the funeral chapel. The York County Veteran’s Honor Guard will provide full military honors. Mr. Edgar was born August 8, 1928 in former Lowrane, Montana. He was a son of the late Ross L. and Frances M. (Morrison) Edgar. He worked at Pfaltzgraff Co. most of his life, beginning as a mechanic and electrician and climbing the ranks to achieve the position of plant engineer. He retired in 1993. Mr. Edgar was an avid fisherman and archer who had a great love for the outdoors. Mr. Edgar proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ross L. Edgar and wife Norene of York; a daughter, Jane F. Nocera and husband Richard of Newburyport, MA; two grandchildren, Allison and Rachel Edgar of York; a brother, Emory Edgar of Dover; and three sisters, Evelyn Morgan of Goldsboro, NC, Jean Ruth of Dover and Carol Edgar of Carlisle.
