Rosetta B. (Hake) Ellis

YORK- Rosetta B. (Hake) Ellis, 100, died on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Kingston Court Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Earle L. Ellis. The couple died on the same date, 48 years apart.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with Jay Harvey officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Salem Community Cemetery.

Born on July 2, 1924 in Craley, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Rachael (Koons) Hake. Rosetta was a cigar maker at Harry Hermans in Windsor and Federal Cigar Company in Red Lion.

Rosetta attended Glenview Alliance Church. She loved crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed cleaning fish for her husband.

Mrs. Ellis is survived by her son, Earle Ellis, Jr. and his wife, Jocelyn of York; daughter, Susan Shirey and her husband, Carey of York Twp.; grandson, Earle Ellis, III and his wife, Niki of York Twp.; two great grandchildren, Ainsley Ellis and Chesley Ellis; and two sisters, Ruthann Blymire of Felton and Carrie Frey of Felton. She was preceded in death by her son, Stanley W. Ellis who died at three months old; four sisters, Catherine Eisenhart, Pauline Robinson, Esther Leiphart and Rachael Wineholt; and one brother, Roy Hake.
