Rosemary was born in Lancaster, PA on July 6, 1926, the eldest daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Mabel E. (Erb) Nolt. She was the first in her family to seek higher education and attended Elizabethtown College where she earned an associate’s degree in the secretarial program and was captain of the cheerleaders. She served as a brownie and girl scout leader and was an early advocate for the AFS cultural exchange program at Dallastown Area High School. She and her husband enjoyed traveling worldwide, collecting antiques, gardening, and attending Gettysburg Basketball games.
