Rose Marie Hurd

WELLSBURG,NY- Rose Marie "Posy" (Adams) Hurd, 78, of Wellsburg, NY passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Glenn R. Hurd, Sr. who passed away May 23, 1996. Posy was born on October 7, 1930 in Portage, Cambria County, PA, the daughter of the Stanley Armstrong and Mary Margaret (McGough) Adams, and raised from birth by her aunt Nellie Spotts. She was a graduate of Spangler High School, Spangler, PA, class of 1948. She was employed by the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Many in the Wellsburg area will remember the wonderful cakes she made and decorated for various weddings, birthdays and other special occasions. Posy is survived by her son Glenn R. (Cheryl) Hurd, Jr. of Wellsburg, her daughters; Gayle (Merle) Carpenter of Elmira, Mona (Chris) Phillips of Wellsburg, Dorene Van Dewark of Pine City, and Arlene (Jack) Tobey of South Port, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, her brother Major (Louise) Adams of Summer Hill, PA, her sisters; Gertrude (Waide) Ross of Summer Hill, and Jean Bolvin of Entriken, PA, along with several nieces and nephews. Posy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, her great grandson Antonio Powell, and several brothers and sisters. The memorial service to honor Posy's life will be announced at a later date. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
