York--Rose M. (Harman) Stockdale, 94, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at York North Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late James R. Stockdale.


A Celebration of Life Service will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements.


Born March 8, 1929 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Theodore Harman Sr., and Catherine (Geesey) Harman.


She was employed with Sylvania for many years in their purchasing department.


A member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, she also attended Ambassador Bible Chapel in Manchester. She enjoyed numerous outdoor activities throughout the years including waterskiing, snowmobiling, deep sea fishing and camping. However, what she cherished most of all was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.


Mrs. Stockdale is survived by one daughter, Carol Ann Thornton and her husband, Jeff of Nags Head, NC; one grandson, Todd M. Thornton and his wife, Natalie of Nags Heads, NC; two great grandchildren, Benjamin R. and Rose E. Thornton and one brother, Theodore Harman Jr., and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey R. Thornton and two sisters, Patricia Gentzler and Shirley Guiffrida.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ambassador Bible Church, 3000 York Haven Rd, Manchester, Pa 17345.
