Rose (Bowers) Wiley

York—Rose (Bowers) Wiley, 85, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at York Hospital. She was the wife of George C. Wiley Sr, to whom she was married for 63 years. A graveside tribute service will be 11 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2009 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd, York, with the Rev. James E. Winter Sr, officiating. Family and friends that will be attending are ask to meet at the cemetery's main entrance at 10:45 a.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born October 14, 1924 in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Epstein) Bowers. She was employed with McCrory's Distribution Center as a ready to wear picker for 21 years, until her retirement in 1985 and also worked with Hershey Entertainment as a wardrobe dresser. In addition to husband, Mrs. Wiley is also survived by two sons, George C. Wiley Jr, and his wife, Janice of York and Richard K. Wiley of York, one daughter, Jacqueline M. Howard and her husband, Richard, of Felton, four grandchildren, Tracey Wiltsie, Jeffery Howard, Timothy Wiley and Alicia Fogle, four great grandchildren, Drew Wiltsie, Brandy Salasgiver, Alyssa Wiley and Austen Fogle, three great-great grandchildren, one brother, Benjamin Bowers and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 50 E. King Street, York, Pa 17401.
