RENOVO - Ronald Nelen, 66, of Farwell, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. He was born November 6, 1947 in Nicktown, PA the son of the late Edward and Myrtle (Byrnes) Nelen. Ronald was married on July 12, 1975 to the former Deborah A. Paul. They celebrated 38 years of marriage together. He worked for Smith Lumber Company, Hammermill Paper Company and was currently the owner-operator of Nelen’s Monuments for 33 years. He was also the caretaker for St. Joseph Cemetery. He enjoyed hunting and mowing yards. Ronald was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Germany. Surviving are his loving wife, two sons Edward B. Nelen and Nicholas P. Nelen both at home. Four brothers Everett Nelen of North Bend, Larry (JoAnn) Nelen of Renovo, Fred Nelen of Emporium and Wilfred Nelen of Farwell also six sisters, Louise (Gary) Baker of Emporium, Diane Harchick of North Bend, Dolly (Steve) Delker of Muncy, Jan MacAfee of Havelock, NC, Nancy Nelen of Renovo and Linda Carpenter of Bristol, TN. A brother Michael preceded him in death in 1968. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Sat., Dec., 14, 2013 at the Maxwell F.H., 205 Fifth Street, Renovo with the Rev. Charles Ugo Officiating. Friends and relatiive will be received one hour pror to the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the SPCA, 33 Mill Hill Road, Lock Haven, PA 17745 or St. Joseph Cemetery Association Fund, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo, PA 17764. A memorial service will be announced.
