SECRETARY, MD- Ronald “Mac” McCarty, 80, formerly of York, died on December 26, 2013 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alison B. (Rubury) McCarty, who died on January 29, 1996. The couple wed on June 13, 1959. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York PA with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in New Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery, York PA with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Bugler Dale Keagy will play taps at the burial. Born on August 29, 1933 in Lancaster, PA he was a son of the late Donald and Dorothy (Stevenson) McCarty. Ron attended Wyoming Seminary Prep School as well as Wilkes College in the 1950’s. Ron worked as a Sales Manager for GTE, Inc. for 28 years until his retirement in 1990. Mr. McCarty was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Ron served our country for four years as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mac was a lifetime member of the Victory Athletic Club in York. He and his family enjoyed their home at Pot Nets, DE where they loved boating, fishing, and crabbing. Mr. McCarty is survived by one son, Tom McCarty and his fiancé, Diana Deaver of Lancaster PA; three granddaughters, Megan O'Donnell and her husband Kyle O'Donnell, Erica and Catherine; one great grandson, Kellen O'Donnell; one brother, Danny McCarty of Leesburg, FL; one sister in law, Arda McCarty; two nephews, Mac McCarty and Doug McCarty and one niece, Diane McCarty. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby” McCarty and one brother, Don McCarty.
