Ronald Lee Simmons, Jr.

YORK- Ronald Lee Simmons, Jr., 42, of York died, Thursday, July 16, 2009 at his residence. He was the husband of Tina Lee (Harris) Simmons. A Celebration of Life Service will be 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 2:30-4 p.m. Military honors will be rendered by York County Veteran's Honor Guard at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Ronald was born at Eglin A. F. B. in Fort Walton Beach, FL on July 2, 1967, a son of Ronald Lee Simmons, Sr. and Joy A. (Bubb) Simmons of York. He enjoyed working outdoors and with his hands. He was an avid ice hockey fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and the Hershey Bears. He bred and raised Golden Retrievers and was an avid hunter and trapper. He was preceded in death by his first Golden Retriever, Scooby Doo. He served in the US Marine Corps. Ronald leaves two daughters, Samantha Lee Simmons and Sabrina Lee Simmons, both at home; two sisters, Michele Yvonne Fake and her husband Stacey of Dover and April L. Arnold and her husband Douglas of York; two nieces, Dakota Lauer and Kyleigh Arnold; and two grandmothers, Jean Simmons of Port Orange, FL and Anna Mae Parrish of St. Cloud, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Metro Bank, C/O Ronald Simmons, Jr. Memorial Account, 55 Arsenal Rd., York, PA 17404, to benefit their children, Samantha and Sabrina or the SPCA 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17402.
