Ronald L. Miller

PINE CREEK TWP. - Ronald L. Miller, age 71, passed away at Divine Providence Gatehouse on Weds. Dec. 2, 2009. He was born in Williamsport on Sept. 21, 1938, son of the late Kenneth and Essie (Maneval) Miller. He graduated from Penn State University and worked as a salesman in the dairy business for Hurr's Dairy (Williamsport Milk Products)and Valley Farms for many years. He served as a director and later vice president of the company. After retirement Ron worked as a substitute teacher in the Jersey Shore school system. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, F.&A.M. Lodge #106, Scottish Rite-Valley of Williamsport, Elks Lodge #1057, Moose Lodge #145, National Rifle Assoc., and the Penn State Nittany Lion Club. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was an avid Penn State football fan and loved going to the seashore. Surviving is his wife: Mary Ann (Haldeman), sons: Ronald L. Miller II of Preston Hollow, N.Y. and Kurt A. Miller of Shamokin, stepsons: Joshua L. Jones of Danville, Justin M. Jones and Jarrad M. Jones, both of McElhatten. Also surviving are daughters: Melissa (Doug) Coakley of McElhatten, Renee Miller of Williamsport, Yvonne (Chris) Popaloski of Philadelphia, Michelle Miller of Miami, Florida, step daughter: Jennifer L. Herd of Columbus, Ga., 12 grandchildren, and a brother: William K. Miller of Montoursville. Funeral services will be held at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 with Rev. Dr. Will Laubaugh officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time. Private interment will be held at the family's convenience. Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
