LEWES, DE - Ronald L. Holtzinger, 76, formerly of Red Lion, PA and for the past 12 years a resident of Lewes, passed away Tuesday December 30, 2008 at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, FL. He is the loving husband of Iris L. "Ike" (Daugherty) Holtzinger with whom he recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 5, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 7-9:00 PM Sunday January 4, 2009 and from 1-2:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Full Military Rites provided by Dallastown American Legion Honor Guard. Born July 5, 1932 in Windsor a son of the late Russell S. and Ruth E. (Hivner) Holtzinger, he was a 1950 graduate of Red Lion High School. Ron was employed at Jacobs Lumber Company for 25 years and retired from John H. Myers and Sons after 20 years of service. He was a member of Red Lion Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1592; Red Lion VFW Post 1446; Red Lion American Legion Post 543, and Oak Orchard Riverdale Post 28 in Millsboro, DE. Ron also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sports, and gardening. Mr. Holtzinger was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his loving wife, Ron has left a family legacy including a loving son, Kirk S. Holtzinger of Pittsburgh; two devoted daughters, Tanya L. (husband Tab J. Smith) of Lake St. Louis, MO and ColleeAnn (husband Nelson P. Wentz, Jr.) of Red Lion; four grandchildren, Keisha Woodall, Jade Holtzinger, and Travis and Keirsten Wentz, three step grandchildren, Jason and wife Stacey Burnett, Adrienne Smith, and Bryan and wife Jessica Smith; a step great grandchild, Dylan Burnett; and a brother, Joseph Holtzinger. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Assoc., 140 Roosevelt Ave, Suite 208, York, PA 17401 or Long Neck United Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
