Dover Township- Ronald Kent Waugh, 60, of Dover, entered into God's eternal care on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at his son's residence in Marietta, GA. He was the husband of Donna "Dee" (Zinn) Waugh. The couple celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2007. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 2:30. Military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard and Masonic honors will be presented. Ron was born September 26, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa. He was the son of LaVern E. Waugh of Hemet, CA and the late Geneva M. (Gartman) Waugh. After 34 years of teaching with the Spring Grove Area School District, Ron retired in 2005. He was an Art Teacher at the Junior High and Senior High Schools and a track coach for 14 years at the Junior High School. Ron was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Dover, Shiloh American Legion post 706, and White Rose Lodge F&AM #706. He was a 1965 graduate of Dover High School. He received a B.S. Degree from Millersville University and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Maryland Institute College of Art. He served in the US Army in the 199th Light Infantry Brigade and the 1st Air Calvary from August 1969-July 1971 and served in the Vietnam War from December 1969-December 1970. He was active with the Boy Scouts, mentoring his two sons to the rank of Eagle Scout. He was always a hard worker and loved helping friends and family with construction and home repair. He enjoyed golf, Baltimore Oriole baseball, Penn State football, salmon fishing, travel, biking, print making, antiques and ceramics. He was a motivational speaker, an optimist and a man of character, humility, integrity, and loyalty. Ron was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. To those who loved him, he was a heroic superman. Ron leaves two sons, Mark D. Waugh and his fianc裠Sharon Snow of Marietta, GA, and Andrew J. Waugh and his wife Cheryl of Exton, PA, a granddaughter, Caitlyn T. Waugh, a brother, Roy D. Waugh of Bothell, WA, a sister, JoAnn Fisher of Hemet, CA, six nieces and nephews and five great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Waugh, and a niece, Katie Fisher. Memorial contributions will be designated for an art room at the new high school named in Ron's honor or to an annual art scholarship in Ron's name. Donations may be made to Spring Grove Area Educational Fund, denoting Ron Waugh Art Room, 100 E.
