Ronald J. 'Roundy' Boris, Sr.

POTTSVILLE- Ronald J.'Roundy' Boris, Sr., 76, of Pottsville, passed away early Wednesday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center, East Norwegian Street, Pottsvillle. Born in Pottsville on November 26, 1936, Ron was a son of the late John and Ida Bedford Boris. Ron was a 1955 graduate of Pottsville High School, where he excelled in Football, Basketball and baseball, which landed him in the Pottsville Sports Hall of Fame. Ron was a Police Officer for the Pottsville Police Department for 20 years, retiring in 1986. Ron was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Pottsville. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #44, a Lifetime member of the Phoenix Fire company, Pottsville, member of the Pottsville Football Alumni Association Club. Ron was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his first wife, Evette Boris, who passed away in 1983; his second wife, Mary Jane Boris, who passed away in 2005. Ron is survived by his two daughters, Deborah L. Boris, fiance’ of Charles Kapp, and Lynn Ann Boris, both of Pottsville; his two sons, Ronald J. Boris, Jr., husband of Danielle, and John R. Boris, husband of Diane, of Orwigsburg; his 8 grandchildren, Michael T. and Keith T. Brobst, Christopher, Darrin and Chelsea Keip, Nicole Cicero, Kyle Bluge and Collin Boris; his 6 great grandchildren; his two sisters, Janice Downey, of Pottsville and Carol Ann Rowan, of Freidensburg; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Centre and Howard Avenue, Pottsville. Father James Rinehart will officiate Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing, with Police Honors, on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & West Market Streets, Garfield Square, Pottsville. There will also be viewing on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at Trinity Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
