Ronald Clinton Rawles, Jr.

YORK - Ronald Clinton Rawles, Jr., 83, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Rest Haven - York. He was the husband of Dorothy M. Rawles to whom he was married for 54 years on October 27, 2009. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Rd., Manchester with his pastor, Rev. Chuck W. Sprenkle officiating. Full military rites will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the Church, prior to the service. Private burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born December 13, 1926 in Sturgis, MI, a son of the late Ronald and Lena Rawles, he earned his degree at the University of Michigan. Mr. Rawles proudly served in the US Air Force for 27 years. He retired with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military affiliations include Shiloh American Legion, York VFW, and was active with his fellow cadet class that trained with the B-49 Flying Wing in Texas during WWII. Following his military career, Mr. Rawles worked as a communication specialist with AT&T until his retirement after 18 years of service. He had also been a scout leader with Boy Scouts of America and was a member of Free and Accepted Masons in Sturgis. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rawles is survived by a daughter, Laura L. and husband Eric Crocker of Bel Air, MD; two sons, Steven D. and wife Tali Rawles of Stuttgart, AR and Mark E. Rawles of Conewingo, MD; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Anna Rawles, Lauren-Ashley Crocker, and Emily Crocker; and a sister, Joann Medley of Findley, OH.
