RED LION - Ronald C. Webb, 61, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at home with his wife and family by his side after a year-long battle with melanoma brain tumors. He was the husband of Kristine H. "Kris" (Hershner) Webb with whom he celebrated a 37th wedding anniversary on October 3, 2007. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26 at Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Rd., Red Lion with his pastor, the Rev. Thomas R. Osenbach, officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Webb was born April 15, 1946, in York. He was the son of Vincent C. and Rheba (Ingram) Webb of Fawn Grove. A self-employed designer, Mr. Webb established Design Centre Management, now located in Abbottstown, in 1982 and operated it along with his business partner, Gary De Bruin, until his medical diagnosis in January of 2007 prohibited him from continuing to do so. He had previously served as the head of the Design Department at Dentsply for 15 years. He was a 1964 graduate of Kennard Dale High School and is a member of the school's Alumni Association. Later, in 1968, he earned his Bachelor's of Fine Arts Degree from the Maryland Institute where he was awarded a scholarship to attend Johns Hopkins University and earned a degree in Architectural Rendering. He later served on the Maryland Institute College of Art Advisory Board and also had been associated with the Bradley Academy of Fine Arts in York. He was an active member of Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church; was a member of the Dental Trade Association; the IDSA; served on both the Executive Board of the National Museum of Dentistry as well as the Advisory Board of the ADA; and had been actively involved with the Industrial Museum of York. He served on the World War II Memorial Committee in York and had founded the former "Eagle Talk" group in York, a club oriented for World War II veterans. He was also a member of and served as president of the 95th Bomb Group. Some of his other interests included his passion for books and historical memorabilia. In addition to his devoted wife and parents, Mr. Webb also leaves a brother, Jerry Webb and wife, Brenda of Fawn Grove; a nephew, John Webb of Fawn Grove; a niece, Hannah Ambrozewski and husband, Tristan of Fort Lewis, WA; his mother and father-in-law, Phyllis and Kent Hershner of Cross Roads; his brother-in-law, Kim B. Hershner and companion, Gail of Cross Roads; and his two loving cats, Moses and Scarlet. Mr. Webb was preceded in death by a nephew, Brian Webb, in August of 1998. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in memory of Ron be made to the York Cancer Center Patient Help Fund, Suite 194, 25 Monument Rd., York, PA 17403 or to White Rose Hospice, 1412 Sixth Ave., York, PA 17403 or to Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church Building Fund, 250 Bethlehem Church Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356.
