Romaine (Rittenhouse) Ness

DALLASTOWN - Romaine (Rittenhouse) Ness, 90, of York Township, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at her daughter’s residence. She was the wife of the late Elmer L. Ness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. Her pastor, The Reverend Michael G. Trimmer will be officiating at the service. Entombment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Mrs. Ness was born in Windsor Township on February 16, 1922, daughter of the late William H. and Mamie (Young) Rittenhouse. She retired from Danskin where she was a seamstress for 38 years. Mrs. Ness was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Felton and formerly attended Grace Lutheran Church, where she sang on the choir. She was a member of Red Lion Senior Center. Mrs. Ness Leaves a daughter, Mary Ann Saylor and her husband Raymond of Felton; two grandchildren Bob Saylor and Wanda Jean Gemmill; three great grandchildren, Jessica, Kristina, and Kevin; and three great, great grandchildren, Trey, Grace, and Julianna; a brother, Walter Rittenhouse and his wife Dorcas of York; and a sister, Charlotte Yohe of Red Lion. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Sylvester “Boss”, Morris, George, Harold “Jake”, and Melvin Rittenhouse and two sisters, Margaret Kohler and Virginia Deitz.
