Romaine M. (Aldinger) Hawkes

RED LION-Romaine M. (Aldinger) Hawkes, 85 passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late James W. Hawkes to whom she was married for 49 years. A celebration of life service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the Rev. Russell D. Clark officiating. A viewing will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkes was born August 27, 1924 in York a daughter of the late Harry Aldinger and Mary Wagner. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Hawkes is survived by two sons, Harold E. "Pete" Hawkes of York, and Vernon E. Hawkes of Glenn Rock; three daughters, Sandra L. Hawkes of Red Lion, Velma A. Harrington of Delta, and Virginia E. Levinsky of Red Lion; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Aldinger of York, and Harry Aldinger, Jr., of Tuscalossa, Al.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, James "Jimmy" W. Hawkes, Jr.; a daughter Mary A. Hawkes; a granddaughter, Tammy S. McKinney; and two sisters, Dorothy Arnold and Joanna Sears.
