Rolland E. Whitey" Beisel

York—Rolland E. "Whitey" Beisel, 77, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon. He was the husband and long time companion of Mable A. (Clayton) Beisel, to whom he was married for 48 years. A private celebration of life service will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Full Military Honors will be provided privately at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Beisel was born June 18, 1931 in Trucksville, a son of the late Donald E. and Margaret (Eckardt) Beisel. He was employed with Common Wealth Supply as Store Manager for 13 years, until his retirement in 2002. A United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was also a life member of V.F.W. Post 7374, a member of V.F.W. Post 8951, Viking Athletic Association and AARP. He was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School, Class of 1949 and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, Horse Racing and vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland. In addition to his wife, Mr. Beisel is also survived by, two sons, Rolland E. Beisel, Jr., and his wife, Christina of York and Clayton D. Beisel of York, three step-daughters, Donna Bonneville, Exaree Davidson, both of York and Deborah Davidson of Chicago, IL, 3 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren, and two nieces, Carol A. Messersmith and Chita M. Brenneman, both of York. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon H. Beisel.
