RED LION-Rodney A. Lau, 80, of Windsor Twp. died Friday, March 18, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Ethel R. (Schaeberle) Lau. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on November 17, 2010. A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Lau was born in York on September 3, 1930, a son of the late Morgan and Edith (Baublitz) Lau. He and his five siblings were orphaned and he was raised by his aunt, Mabel Shindle, after his parents' passing. He retired as a PMO Operator from M&M Mars in Elizabethtown, prior to that he worked as an upholsterer for T.R. Taylor in York. Mr. Lau was formerly a member of Train Collectors Association, and a member of both the Red Lion American Legion post 543 and Red Lion VFW post 1446. He had an interest in trains, airplanes, putting puzzles together, walking, traveling, golfing, bowling, and he especially enjoyed sharing his train collection with his grandson, Devin. He served in the Korean War in the US Army. Mr. Lau leaves a daughter, Gail Armstrong and her husband Duane of Red Lion; a son, Tim A. Lau and his wife Sherry of Felton; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Armstrong and his wife Danielle and Rachel Lau; two great grandchildren Devin and Kayleigh Armstrong; two sisters, Charlene Mingora and her husband John of York and Judith Striebig and her husband Don of Dagsboro, DE and nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded him in death Donald M. Lau, Jackie Lau, and Robert Myers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 50 E. King Street, York, PA 17401, American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403, SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406 or St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
