Dover- Rodman Earl Boeckel, 77, died Friday, February 1, 2008 at Manor Care Health Services-North in West Manchester Township. He was the companion of Robert E. Baublitz. A graveside service will be held 10am, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Prospect Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Wesley S. Mast, Chaplain with Heartland Hospice officiating. A funeral cortege will form at the Pennsylvania Ave. entrance of the cemetery, at 9:45am, for anyone wishing to attend. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Boeckel was born January 31, 1931 in York, the son of the late Robert Earl and Ferne Ann (Arnold) Boeckel. Graduating from the York Collegiate Institute in 1947, he continued his education earning an A.A. Degree in Business Administration at Valley Forge Military Jr. College in 1949. In addition, Mr. Boeckel graduated from Gettysburg College in 1953 with a B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts. He furthered his education by attending Swarthmore College, the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work, the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, and completed Social Welfare courses at both the University of Scranton and Bryn Mawr College. Mr. Boeckel was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1956 as a 1st Lieutenant. He worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare as a Social Services Supervisor for 25 years until his retirement in 1985. In addition to his life partner, Mr. Boeckel is also survived by his closest friends, Shirl and her husband Ronnie Poff.
