Roberta G. (Bankard) Heist

YORK- Roberta G. (Bankard) Heist, 73, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Rest Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of William L. Heist. The couple had been married for 54 years. A time of gathering for close friends and family members will be held at the families’ residence at a later date. Mrs. Heist was born on February 20, 1938 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Ruth Trump. Roberta worked at a number of banks, Apple Chevrolet and most recently, York Volkswagen as an office manager, where she retired from. Mrs. Heist and her husband were members of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church. Roberta enjoyed traveling and camping. She also enjoyed the beach, especially Chincoteague Island, VA. Along with her husband, William, Mrs. Heist is survived by two sons, Jeff Heist and his wife, Cindy of York and Mike Heist of Hancock, VT; a daughter, Christine Haffner and her husband, Douglas of Dover; and five grandchildren, Heath, Lindsay, Leigh, Harrison and Shane.
