Robert W. Runk

YORK - Robert “Rob” W. Runk, 70, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Christine L. (Senft) Runk, to whom he was married for 48 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road in York with Certified Celebrant Sam Piper officiating. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Born February 19, 1951, in York, he was a son of the late Paul W. Runk, Jr. and E. Marguerite (Cottrell) Runk Schaale. Growing up, Rob was always active in the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Rob is a graduate of West York Area High School and York College. During his working years, he served as the President of Yorktown Mutual Insurance Company and then retired from American National Insurance Company in 2018. After his retirement, Rob served as a funeral service associate with Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. Rob loved to travel and go camping with his wife, Christine. His favorite destination was to visit his son Jeremy, his wife Beth, and his grandchildren Claire and Nevin in Connecticut. When with his family, Rob loved to go skiing in the winter and take them to Rehoboth Beach in the summer. Rob enjoyed hunting and traveled often with his friends to West Virginia. Mr. Runk was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was always eager to lend a helping hand to someone who needed it. Rob leaves behind his wife, Christine L. Runk; a son, Jeremy Runk and his wife Elizabeth of Connecticut; two grandchildren, Nevin Runk, and Claire Runk; three brothers, Randall Runk and his wife Catherine of Virginia, Jon Schaale and his wife Karen of York, and Gregory Schaale and his wife Janet of Virginia; a sister, Tammie Krout and her husband Kim of York; and many nieces and nephews.
