Robert Samuel Brackett, Sr.

YORK-Robert Samuel Brackett, Sr., 73 of West Manchester Twp., born of Cherokee heritage went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday March 31, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the husband of A. Caroline (Woodring) Brackett. A Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. The service and burial in Mount Rose Cemetery will be private for the family. Mr. Brackett was born in Keystone, WV on January 24, 1935, a son of the late Hartford and Beulah (Oden) Brackett. He worked for Fry's Roofing Company for 11 years, for Medusa Cement Company for 11 years, was a Steward for B. D. Social Club for 18 years and retired in 2005 from York County Department of Corrections. Mr. Brackett was a member of the former Rock Church in York, was a life member of both West York VFW and Viking Athletic Association. He was a NY Yankees fan and he enjoyed watching his grandson's baseball games. He was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Brackett leaves four sons: Robert Brackett, Jr. and Larry Carbaugh both of York, Gary Carbaugh, Sr. of Tennessee, and Michael Carbaugh of Dallastown, four daughters: Melodie Rohrback of Windsor, Penny Carbaugh of York, and twin daughters: Lisa Fuller and Lorie Stover, both of York, sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a half brother, George Cooper of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Brackett, and a sister, Agnes Dillow. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or American Lung Association of PA.
