Robert L. Robinson

York—Robert L. Robinson, 79, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jean E. (Gladfelter) Robinson to whom he was married for 43 years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00AM, Friday, November 01, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Terry Robinson. A visitation will be held from 9:00AM – 11:00AM, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

Born February 08, 1945 in Lucky, Chanceford Township, he was the son of the late John H. and Beulah (Bacon) Robinson. He was a 1963 graduate of Red Lion High School and later earned his Bachelor’s degree from York College.

His career in insurance sales span nearly 4 decades. He began working with Lester Shelley at his Nationwide Insurance business in Red Lion, eventually taking over after Mr. Shelley retired. He also took great pride in working at Kinard’s in Red Lion as he was attending college.

Avid collector of carnival glass, he was also a passionate baseball fan and managed Conrads in the Susquehanna Baseball League from 1983 – 1986. He was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Assoc., a life member of the York County Agriculture Society, superintendent of Antiques – Old Main at the York Fair, a member of the New Bridgeville Fire Company and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Bridgeville. He enjoyed deer hunting, antiquing with his wife and daily breakfast with his friends at Lion’s Pride.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Robinson is also survived by his step-son, Christopher E. Kann and his wife, Angela; three grandchildren, Catherine E. (Michael Uresta), Hannah J. and Cassandra E. Kann; one brother, Jerry W. Robinson and his wife, Doris; one sister, Patsy Waltemyer; sister-in-law, Dolly Robinson and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, H. Gene Robinson.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mrs. Robinson would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at York Hospital – 4 South.
