Robert R. Ritter

YORK – Robert R. Ritter, 82, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Ann M. (Henry) Ritter. Bob and Ann are now together again forever. A gathering of friends will be held from 9-10:30 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide full military honors at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel. Private burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born March 29, 1930 in York a son of the late John H. and Sue (Gunnett) Ritter, he was a 1948 graduate of William Penn High School. Mr. Ritter had owned and operated Ritter’s AG grocery store on Fulton St. in York until his retirement in the early 1990’s. He also introduced the Pepperidge Farms and Thomas’ brand products to the York area. Mr. Ritter enjoyed fishing, loved animals, and was proud of his wood crafting abilities as he built the home in which he lived. He was a US Navy Veteran. Mr. Ritter is survived by three sons, Dean A. and wife Gail Ritter of York, David A. Ritter of Red Lion, Brock A. Ritter and companion Joni Shaffer of York; two daughters, Kathy A. and husband Michael Spangler of York, and Pamala A. and husband Fred Warfel of Jessup, PA; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
