LOCK HAVEN - Robert Nathanial Glenn Stiver, 60, of 118 Akeley Lane, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, 2012 at home, following a battle with cancer. Born May 28, 1952 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Adam L. Stiver and of Katherine Yarrison Stiver of Pleasant Gap, formerly of Lock Haven. A 1971 graduate of Lock Haven High School, where he was a member of the Chess Club, he also attended Lock Haven University. He and his wife, the former Wendy Akeley, were married on Sept. 21, 1985 in Covenant United Methodist Church in Lock Haven, which he attended. A contractor and remodeler for most of his career, he was employed in his younger years at Champion Parts and Berwick Forge and Fabricating. His contracting projects were many and varied. He designed and built a three-story freestanding mountain stone chimney, a custom shower and bath on a yacht, a recording studio and other unique designs. A lifelong hunter and fisherman, his trophies included a 22-point buck. He was a member and longtime trout fly-tying instructor for the Lloyd Wilson Chapter of Trout Unlimited. He designed, built and patented a five-in-one fly tying tool, the Fly Wand. His company Fly Wand Inc. participated in the small business âIncubatorã project in the former Penn School. A scuba diver and theatre set designer in his earlier years, he was successful in archery tournaments and won several trophies as a snake hunter and sacker. He also was a member of the former North Central Pennsylvania Reptile Association. He designed and built working tabletop cannons and enjoyed shooting skeet and spending time with his dogs. He was the last person to walk up Main Street in Lock Haven during the Agnes Flood. Surviving, along with his wife and mother, are his sister, Katherine Jane (Barry) Wunz of Bellefonte, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Lee Stiver, who died in 1958. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 and will be announced at a later date. Private burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Lloyd Wilson Chapter of Trout Unlimited, 1300 N. 17th St., Suite 500, Arlington, Va. 22209-2404. Memorials may also be made to Centre Crossings Hospice, 124 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven, PA 17745. Additionally, memorials may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, PA 17745. Arrangements are under Helt Funeral Chapel.
