Robert M. Smith Sr

York- Robert M. Smith Sr., 82, died Friday, August 29, 2008 at Manor Care Health Services- Carlisle. He was the husband to Fern E. (Wentz) Smith to whom he shared 48 years of marriage. A Funeral Service will be held at 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc, 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry. A viewing will be held from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Paddletown Cemetery with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born February 13, 1926 in Centre County, a son to the late Merrill and Myrtle (Markle) Smith. Mr. Smith retired in 1988 from New Cumberland Auto Parts where he was employed as a mechanic for 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the Marsh Run American Legion and enjoyed camping. Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Robert M. Smith, Jr. of Newberrytown and Mervin W. Smith, Sr. of Newberry Township; two daughters, Dorothy E. Gohn of Newberry Township and Marilyn E. Bogardus of Etters; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Leona Price of Burns, WY, Dorothy Wentz of Thompsontown, Mae Stamm of Shamokin Dam, and Pearl Smith of New Cumberland and nieces and nephews.
