Robert M. "Bob" Conway, Sr

Robert M. Conway, Sr., “Bob,” 79, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at his residence in W. Manchester Twp. He was the husband of Joyce A. (Brown) Conway. The couple celebrated 59 years of marriage on June 18th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 4PM, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Officiating the service will be Certified Celebrant Victoria Krouse. A viewing will be held from 2-4PM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Born April 9, 1939 in Darby, Delaware Co., he was a son of the late John T. and Marie (Myers) Conway. Motorcycles were his passion and he turned that passion into a 33 year career with Harley-Davidson Motor Co. He began working with Harley as a dealership mechanic. He became a Service Representative covering the East Coast. It wasn’t long before he was in Milwaukee, WI working in the Service Department and teaching his trade skills at the Harley-Davidson Service School. Soon he became manager of the Audit Team in York, PA and actually designed the team’s test track in York. He was then asked back to Milwaukee to manage Harley-Davidson’s Racing Team and won several National Championships. Bob later accepted the position of International Representative of the Pacific Rim before eventually moving back to York as a Service Representative until his retirement in 2004. His enthusiasm for motorcycles began at an early age and extended outside his professional life. He was a life member of the Harley Owner’s Club (H.O.G.), a member of the Philadelphia Corsairs Motorcycle Club, American Motorcyclist Assoc., and the Eastern Harley-Davidson Dealers Assoc. He also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Shiloh American Legion—Post 791. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by four children, Patricia C. Swilley and husband, Michael of Knoxville, TN, Robert M. Conway, Jr., of York, Noel W. Conway and wife, Beth of York and Stacey R. Paskiewicz and husband, Aric of Franksville, WI; nine grandchildren, Shane, Kayle, Megan, Cooper, Makenna, Amanda, Anthony, Abigail and Rebecca; one sister, Marie Roberts of Philadelphia and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Thomas Conway. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, Pa 17406 or a charity of your choice in Bob’s name.
