Robert L. Yeakel

Robert L. Yeakel, 89, passed away at York Hospital on September 21, 2021. He was the loving husband of Eleanor (Diehl) Yeakel, to whom he was married for over 65 years. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family. Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. in Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born April 19, 1932, he was a son of the late Albert and Ellen Edna (Bleam) Yeakel. After graduating from Allentown High School in 1950, Mr. Yeakel worked at Bethlehem Steel until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, and proudly served his country from 1952 to 1954, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal. He went on to attend the Ross Leffler School of Conservation. After graduating from their program, Mr. Yeakel worked as a Game Protector for 29 years before he retired in 1991. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing with his family and working on his small hit and miss engines. Mr. Yeakel was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, as well as the Early American Steam Engine and Old Equipment Society, Inc. In addition to his wife, Mr. Yeakel is survived by a son, Larry S. Yeakel and his children Zachary Yeakel, Alyssa (Yeakel) and Ethan Grove, and Kacie Yeakel; a daughter, Patricia (Yeakel) and her husband Michael Waltimyer, and their son, Jeb Bortz; three siblings: Rodney Yeakel, Alan Yeakel, and Cheryl Allison; and many nieces and nephews.
