Robert L. Spangler

York—Robert L. Spangler, 73, died Monday, August 15, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jane E. (Messerly) Spangler. The couple celebrated 48 years of marriage on June 15th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Friday, August 19, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with the Rev. Fred A. Walthour officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, at the funeral home. Full military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Born July 6, 1943 in York, he was a son of the late Richard P. Spangler, Sr., and the late Kathleen V. (Landis) Spangler. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed with Fincor as a Sales Manager for 40 years until his retirement in 2006. An avid golfer, he was also a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, fishing trips to Canada and tending to his garden. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League—York Charter 67, Starview Sportsman’s Assoc., Victory Athletic Assoc., National Rifle Assoc., and enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his wife, Mr. Spangler is also survived by one daughter, Denna R. Waltemyer of Stewartstown; one son, Dr. Michael S. Spangler and his wife, Jennifer of York; five grandchildren, Tyler, Michael, Leah, McKenna and Ethan; one sister, Deborah Tuel of Moore Haven, FL and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Spangler, Jr. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail-N, York, Pa 17406.
