York—Robert L. Morris, 83, died Monday, August 1, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Singer) Morris to whom he was married for 54 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Dr. Alan Watt of Christ Lutheran Church in York. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A flag presentation ceremony will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born July 1, 1933 in Aberdeen, MD, he was a son of the late Stanley E. Morris, Sr., and Alice (Warner) Morris. He was employed as a surveyor for 47 years with Whitman Requardt & Associates in Maryland until his retirement in 1996. A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member of the Shiloh American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose in Baltimore and enjoyed gardening. In addition to his wife, Mr. Morris is also survived by one son, Joseph Morris and his wife, Deborah of York; two step grandchildren, Robert Kramer and Jessica King; six step great grandchildren, Banen, Robert Jr., Larsen, Kera, Kamdyn and Ashur; two brothers, Stanley Morris of Clearwater, Fl and James Morris of Towson, MD and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Wallace and five sisters, Frances, Lillian, Edna, Vivian and Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
