MIFFLINBURG - Robert L. Derr, 91, of Mifflinburg, a former Milton resident died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. He was born in Milton on December 10, 1921 and was the son of the late Mark J. and Elsie M. (Gray) Derr. Robert was a graduate of Milton High School class of 1939. Robert married the late LaRue J. (Hauck) on August of 1945 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage together until her death on April 03, 1997. He went on to serve his country during World War II and the European Theater with the Army. While in the military Robert was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal After serving in the Army, Robert worked for AC&F, Milton as a master machinist and T.R.W., Danville for 32 years as and retired in 1983 as a prototype machinist. Robert was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Milton, Masonic Lodge 256, the American Legion Post # 471, AARP and T.R.W. Retirees Club. He enjoyed trains, model railroading and playing cards. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Patricia J and William George of Middleburg, his long time companion; Leola (Swanger) Dornsife of Mifflinburg, one nephew; William Trewitz, two nieces; Kenna (Hauck) Faith and Joanne Trewitz, and cousins in the Harrisburg, Milton and Richardson, Texas areas. In addition to his parents and wife LaRue, Robert was preceded in death by; one brother; Donald Derr and one sister; Blanche Trewitz, one nephew; Butch Trewitz and one niece; Shirley Trewitz. A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 04, 2013 at Harmony Cemetery, Milton, with Pastor Pat Pittsnogle officiating, along with full Military Honors from the Milton American Legion Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton, PA 17847.
