RED LION - Robert L. Chronister, 76, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at his residence. He was the husband of Luretta S. [Grove] Chronister to whom he was married for 54 years. Due to renovations at Mr. Chronister's home church of Red Lion Zion United Methodist; a celebration of life funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 24, 2007 at Bethlehem (Stonepile) U. M. Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Road, Red Lion with his pastor, the Rev. James C. House officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM Friday at Bethlehem (Stonepile) U.M. Church. Burial will be in Red Lion Zion U.M. Cemetery with Full Military Rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born March 28, 1931 in York, a son of the late Ray M. and Ethel [Schmuck] Chronister, and stepson of the late Geraldine Chronister, he was a 1949 graduate of Red Lion High School. Mr. Chronister owned and operated Arctic Locker System in York from 1958 until the mid 1970's when he sold that location and purchased Arctic Locker System in Red Lion, which had been owned by his father. During his ownership of the Red Lion Arctic Locker System location he also worked as a salesman for Ris Paper Co. He also worked as a salesman with Revonah Pretzel Co. and worked at Lion Pharmacy. Mr. Chronister was a 50-year member of Red Lion Zion United Methodist Church where he served in various administrative positions and served on the Zion U.M. Cemetery Board; served on Red Lion Borough Council; was a member of National and PA State Associations of Meat Processors, and served as President of the PA Assoc. from 1961-1962; and was a charter member of 13th Ward Political Club. He also was a member of Hawks Gunning Club; honorary life member of Red Lion Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for 34 years; Veteran Assoc. of the USS Iowa; was a member of Red Lion American Legion for 52 years; a member of the former Red Lion Country Club for over 40 years; and was a member of the Royal Arcanum Fraternal Society. Mr. Chronister will be remembered as a great "Pop Pop" who enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and playing golf. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his wife, Mr. Chronister is survived by two sons, Dr. Steven B. and wife Sindi Chronister of Red Lion and Todd R. and wife Mary Ann Chronister of York; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Eric, Carly, and Alec; two brothers, Dale and wife Delores "Dee" Chronister of Red Lion and Paul and wife Betty Chronister of York; two aunts; three uncles; and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray S. Chronister and a sister, Betty Henise. Memorial contributions may be made to Red Lion Zion U. M.
