York—Robert L. Anthony, 80, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Norma J. (Eyster) Anthony to whom he was married for 56 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with the Rev. Wayne E. Heberlig of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Mt. Wolf officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born December 8, 1933 in York, he was a son of the late David and Edith (Messinger) Anthony. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed with Caterpillar for 23 years as a fabricator until his retirement in 1993. For 27 years he also owned and operated Anthony’s Ornamental Iron, his own fabrication shop which he retired from in 1998. He was a hard worker, most of the time working two full time jobs to provide for his family. He also loved gambling, especially playing the PA Lottery. Throughout the years he had several hobbies including golfing, playing cards, hunting, fishing and also enjoyed taking the family boating. Mr. Anthony is survived by five children, Barry Sidesinger and wife, Betsy of Dover, Bonnie Hunt of Melbourne, FL, Robert “Bobby” Anthony Jr., and his wife, Cindy of York, Deborah Price and her husband, Jim of Manchester and Randy Anthony and his wife, Tina of York; many grandchildren, many great grandchildren; five siblings, David Anthony, Lois Geisler, Larry Anthony, Johnny Anthony and Dorothy Warner; companion, Grace Babner and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Rd, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or DAV-Disabled American Veterans, 4219 E. Trindle Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
