Robert K. Shorty" Smeltzer

WRIGHTSVILLE- Robert K. "Shorty" Smeltzer, 64, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Jane A. (McCleary) Smeltzer. A Celebration of Life Tribute service will be 10 am on Friday, December 21, 2007 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion. A viewing will be from 7-9pm on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springville Cemetery, Lower Windsor Twp. Shorty was born in York Hospital on February 26, 1943, a son to the late Daniel and Thelma (Landis) Smeltzer. He was a 1961 graduate of William Penn High School in York. He served in the US Army and the National Guard from 1961 to 1968. Shorty was employed with MacSteel for 39 years, retiring this past September. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Kreutz Creek Valley Post # 7045, American Legion of Wrightsville, and the Wrightsville Social Club. Surviving Shorty are his son, James A. and his wife, Karen Smeltzer of Red Lion; a daughter, Nancy L. and her husband, Greg Russell of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Allison Smeltzer, and Miracle Moody; two brothers, Dale Smetlzer of Manchester and Wayne and his wife, Rita Smeltzer of York; and a sister, Karen and her husband, Jack Burd of York.
