Robert Jack Gold

In his final hours, on July 20, 2018, Robert "Bob" Gold (84) and family shared a special moment listening to a recording of Bob singing his favorite song, "If Tomorrow Never Comes." Bob was born on February 15, 1934 in St. Clair, PA, a son of the late Robert Ernest Gold, Doris Whiteford Kelly, and stepfather Charles Kelly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Gold and grandson, Cade Michael Gold. Bob is survived by his children, Karen Kessler, Sherrie Gohn and Shawn Gold, along with their spouses; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; companion, Nedra Rank; and half brother, David Kelly. Bob was a long time employee and eventual owner H.L. Neff & Company in Red Lion, PA. The company's previous owner was his late father in law, Harold L. Neff of whom Bob respected tremendously. Sports were always one of Bob's biggest passion. Throughout high school, Bob was on the football, basketball and track team. He was the 1951 Red Lion High School football king. In his adult years, he was a champion archer and an avid golfer (4 lifetime hole in ones). Most recently, Bob loved watching his grandson Cade play high school football and lacrosse and his granddaughter Carsyn play soccer. Bob often joked with Cade about the great genes that he passed on to him. In addition to sports, Bob was a talented karaoke singer, frequent Rutter's patron and lover of scratch-offs! Bob will be remembered for his wealth of knowledge, quick wit, jokes (some appropriate; some not) and the ability to bring a smile to all. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bob Gold will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, buy a scratch-off in Bob's memory OR memorial contributions may be made in honor of Bob's late grandson, Cade Gold, to Dallastown Area Education Foundation, c/o Ashley Spector, 700 New School Rd., Dallastown, PA 17313 for the Cade Gold Memorial Scholarship to benefit Dallastown Football and Lacrosse players.
