YORK – Robert Joseph 'Sam' Spangler, 68, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in York. He was the loving husband to Robin (Dietz) Spangler for 40 years. The couple was married on September 16, 1972. All services are private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Spangler was born April 6, 1944 in York. He was born to Robert A. and Evelyn R. (Aldinger) Spangler. He worked 17 years as an armored truck driver. Later, he was a forklift operator until his retirement from Standard Register in 2006. After his retirement, he worked part-time at York Wall Coverings. Robert was a member of the Viking Club and the Shiloh Legion. He was an avid fan of John Wayne movies, “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “Gunsmoke,” and many classic movies. Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Sean E. Spangler, and his wife, Vicki, of Manchester; two daughters: Melisse L. Sowers, and her husband, Troy, of York; Tina M. Zeamer, and her fiancé, Joseph Myers, of York; five grandchildren: Michael, Bradley, Aaron, Noah, and Cheyenne; plus nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Toomey.
