WILKES-BARRE- Robert J. Lloyd, 83, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Commonwealth Hospice, St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 14, 1929, he was a son of the late James A. Lloyd and Martha (Doty) George. He was the stepson of the late Merlyn George. He was a graduate of Lake Lehman High School. Robert was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and making models. During the 1950’s he was employed at the former Percy Brown’s, Wilkes-Barre. During the 1960’s, he moved to New Jersey where he worked as a bus driver for the New Jersey Public Transportation. In the 1970’s he returned to Wilkes-Barre where he was a furniture repairmen at People’s Household, Wilkes-Barre, until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 6 year old brother, Edward. Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Sandra J. (Arasim) Lloyd; his daughter, Jean Holmgren and her husband Matthew of Kingston; his beloved dog and best friend, Barney. A Memorial Service will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with Celebrant Rynell Guy. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Rd., Dallas, PA 18612.
