Robert J. Lloyd

WILKES-BARRE- Robert J. Lloyd, 83, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Commonwealth Hospice, St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 14, 1929, he was a son of the late James A. Lloyd and Martha (Doty) George. He was the stepson of the late Merlyn George. He was a graduate of Lake Lehman High School. Robert was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and making models. During the 1950’s he was employed at the former Percy Brown’s, Wilkes-Barre. During the 1960’s, he moved to New Jersey where he worked as a bus driver for the New Jersey Public Transportation. In the 1970’s he returned to Wilkes-Barre where he was a furniture repairmen at People’s Household, Wilkes-Barre, until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 6 year old brother, Edward. Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Sandra J. (Arasim) Lloyd; his daughter, Jean Holmgren and her husband Matthew of Kingston; his beloved dog and best friend, Barney. A Memorial Service will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with Celebrant Rynell Guy. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Maple Hill Cemetery.
