YORK - Robert J. Klunk, Sr., 94, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 after a valiant fight with lymphoma. Robert resided with his wife Virginia E. (Wagman) Klunk at Country Meadows at Leader Heights. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Holy Saviour Cemetery in York. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Klunk was born in Hanover on June 18, 1918, the son of the late Ambrose J. and Clara F. (Baugher) Klunk. He retired from Baker Perkins where he was the East Coast Regional Sales Manager. Mr. Klunk was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in York. He was a graduate of Penn State University, where he received his Engineering Degree. He was a member of the Country Club of York and was an avid golfer. He served in the US Navy in WWII. Mr. Klunk was a devoted father and leaves a son, Robert Klunk, Jr., of Arendtsville,; five daughters, Susan Weissenrieder of Estes Park, CO; Barbara Saulsbury of Mechanicsburg, JoAnn Baublitz of Sparks, MD, Christine Gangeri of Hawthorne, NJ, and Kathleen Mooney of Timonium, MD, 13 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Two brothers, Richard and Mark Klunk had preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
