YORK- Robert J. Craig, 82, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013, at Country Meadows of York. He was the husband of the late Priscilla J. (Faillaci) Craig. The couple were married on June 29, 1974. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with the Reverend Michael Fischer, Chaplain at Country Meadows officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born June 3, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, Robert was a son of the late Cecil R. and Reba Mae (Paul) Craig. Robert had a career as a corporate food plant manager for over thirty years, having worked for Southland Corporation in executive management for food operations for over a decade prior to his retirement in the early 1990's. Mr. Craig served our country in the United States Navy for almost two years. Robert was an avid and accomplished member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, where he toured across the country and also directed and adjudicated the chorus. He loved playing cards, such as poker and bridge, as well as playing in his fantasy football leagues. He had an enthusiastic interest in airplanes and had taken flying lessons in the past five years. Robert was also a passionate University of Michigan and Detroit Tigers fan. Mr. Craig is survived by a son, Barry McConway of Houston, TX; a daughter, Linda McConway Grove of York; two granddaughters, Sophie Lynn Grove of York, and Cameron McConway of Houston; a grandson, Patrick McConway of Houston; a brother, Roger Craig of Ann Arbor, MI; and a nephew, Robert T. Craig of Cincinnati, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc., 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front Street, #100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
